Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Central is Hong Kong's financial and business heart; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links the streets up the hill, Lan Kwai Fong and SoHo come alive at night, and the Central piers serve the Outlying Islands.

Yesterday, I visited the historic Yuk Yu Tea House for dim sum, and I loved every moment of the experience. The food was delicious, with perfect portion sizes, and the service was warm, friendly, and welcoming. The staff were not only professional but also incredibly funny, making the meal even more enjoyable. One of the waiters, whose nickname is “Big Head Boy,” was especially kind and thoughtful. After finding out I was visiting from overseas and loved their tea, he generously gave me some extra tea to take home. It was such a thoughtful gesture that made my visit even more memorable. Too bad I just missed their new menu! One of the staff members told me they change their menu every 10 days, so there’s always something new to look forward to. I’ll definitely have to come back to try the next one. I highly recommend Yuk Yu Tea House to anyone visiting Hong Kong. They open as early as 7:00 a.m., making it a perfect spot for an authentic dim sum breakfast. One tip for visitors: if the staff’s tone, actions, or mannerisms seem a little direct or even rude at first, don’t take it personally. That’s part of the authentic Hong Kong tea house culture. They’re not being rude they’re s

Food wise, it is undoubtedly amazing. If you want to taste an elevated Cantonese food, this is it! The portion is okay, roughly for 3-4 people, so for a bigger party we might need to order two each or other dishes. Price wise, it is considered pricey. The in-house service is excellent, as we as tourists didn’t get any rude gestures at all unlike in most establishments. The staff are professional, helpful, and attentive. All of us got a welcome hot towel to freshen up. Tips for gratitude service might be expected. There are three storeys in this restaurant, with no dim sum served at dinner time. It requires steps with no handrails or ramp to get into the restaurant, and there is no accessible toilet available. Despite its long standing history popularity, this restaurant has no online booking service. I made a booking through a phone internationally a week in advance with a YES, however, when I tried to re-confirm the day before, they said did not have any reservation under my name. English is very limited here, and apparently without local phone number, they wouldn’t be able to send a confirmation. Though they try to preserve its history, a more approachable reservation method

Luk Yu Tea House 陸羽茶室 Timeless Elegance with a Side of Sesame 🫖✨ Stepping into Luk Yu Tea House feels like entering a beautifully preserved chapter of old Hong Kong. The dark wooden interiors, classic furnishings, and nostalgic charm create an atmosphere that is both refined and deeply comforting. Despite its heritage setting, everything felt clean, well-kept, and efficiently run. Service was fast, friendly, and refreshingly straightforward, the kind that makes you feel looked after without any fuss. The dim sum? Absolutely delightful. The glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf was fragrant and perfectly textured, while the sesame salted egg bun struck that magical balance of sweet, nutty, and savoury richness. Comfort food elevated. We visited on a Saturday brunch and had no issue walking in, no reservations needed, no dramatic queue. Just good timing and good appetite. Honestly, I don’t quite understand the lower ratings. For us, this was classic Hong Kong dining done right: heritage, heart, and excellent dim sum. Five stars, without hesitation. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We went for lunch. Like the retro style of dim sum restaurant. And we also had very good service lol, like the waiter No.29, experienced and quite proactive to chat with us! Impressed for the food! Happy Lunch lol!
