At wet-market stalls meat, seafood and vegetables are often priced by the catty (斤) or tael (兩), and prices move with the season and the weather, while supermarkets mostly sell pre-packed, price-labelled goods. Alcohol may only be sold to people aged 18 or over, so you may be asked for ID. The days before Lunar New Year are the busiest of the year for markets and dried-seafood shops, and many stalls close for the first few days of the new year. Market stalls are freshest in the morning and may cut prices before closing in the evening; bring a bag and small change.

Opening hours: daily, 10:00–19:30. It opens every day of the week. Many small businesses close for a few days around Lunar New Year and may shut early or not open during typhoons and black rainstorms, so check the latest news before you set off. No phone number is listed, so the Google Maps link on this page is the best starting point for directions and any contact details Google has. More information is on its website, fehd.gov.hk.

At 3.9 out of 5 on Google (95 reviews), it sits mid-table; the written reviews say more about service, prices and waiting times than the number does.

Sham Shui Po is part of the Sham Shui Po District in Kowloon. Around Kwun Tong and Kowloon Bay many industrial buildings now house offices, restaurants, gyms and studios, while Kai Tak is a newer district. Kowloon's streets are busiest in the evening and at weekends, shops keep long hours with many open until about 22:00, and the Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan and Tuen Ma lines plus buses and minibuses reach almost everywhere. Sham Shui Po is known for the electronics and second-hand stalls of Apliu Street and the fabric and button shops around Ki Lung Street and Yu Chau Street, where many older shops still prefer cash.

Historic textile shops are now more organized and turned into an enclosed bazaar area.

Great place and heaps to look at. Very friendly customer service. But be warned ⚠️ does not open at 6am as stated online. I arrived at 8.30 and waited till 9.30 when a few stores opened. Left after 10am and still not all stalls open.

The Sham Shui Po Fabric Market is a must-visit for anyone interested in textiles, sewing, or custom tailoring. The variety of fabrics, buttons, zippers, and accessories is impressive, and prices are reasonable, especially if you buy in bulk. The vendors are generally helpful, though some may not speak much English. The area can feel crowded, but that’s part of its lively local charm. Whether you're a hobbyist, designer, or just looking for unique materials, this market offers plenty to explore.

Location quite far away from mtr station but still worth the walk especially you are into fabrics and sewing.

The new venue provides 53 stalls and is located at blocks 1 to 3 of Tung Chau Street Temporary Market. Is only about 400 metres from Nam Cheong MTR Station (Gate D1) or 500 metres from Sham Shui Po MTR Station (Gate C2)
