About 40% of Hong Kong's land is country park or special area, and hiking trails run through every district. Before a hike or a beach day check the Hong Kong Observatory forecast and warnings, bring enough water, sun protection and a charged phone, and stay on the trail; the country parks ask visitors to take their litter home. In summer, avoid hiking at midday, carry plenty of water and take extra care when the Very Hot Weather Warning is in force.
Google lists it as open 24 hours, seven days a week, though arrangements may change in a typhoon or other special circumstances, so call if it matters. Phone: 2720 5723. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first. Its website is lcsd.gov.hk, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.
It has a Google rating of 3.8 out of 5 from 1,371 reviews. Opinions are mixed but broadly steady, and the latest reviews are the best guide to what to expect.
Sham Shui Po is part of the Sham Shui Po District in Kowloon. Around Kwun Tong and Kowloon Bay many industrial buildings now house offices, restaurants, gyms and studios, while Kai Tak is a newer district. Kowloon's streets are busiest in the evening and at weekends, shops keep long hours with many open until about 22:00, and the Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan and Tuen Ma lines plus buses and minibuses reach almost everywhere. Sham Shui Po is known for the electronics and second-hand stalls of Apliu Street and the fabric and button shops around Ki Lung Street and Yu Chau Street, where many older shops still prefer cash.

Lovely grounds, plenty of nicely clean paths to qalk around, sport fields and a nice playground. I rate this as a 3 star location, due to the amount of homeless tents and people there are. Not a place I would be happy my children going/playing without supervision. They are not aggressive or anything, mainly older people who had life play a not so great trick on, but still.

Sham Shui Po Park is a surprisingly peaceful pocket right in the middle of one of Hong Kong’s busiest districts. Once you step through the gates, the noise of the streets fades and you’re greeted with wide open spaces, shady trees, and a very local neighborhood vibe. The park is clean and well-maintained, with plenty of benches for relaxing, and walking paths that make for a pleasant morning or evening stroll. There’s a good mix of families, elderly residents doing tai chi, and kids playing around — it feels lived-in in the best possible way.

Very good for kids and elderly, well maintained swings and play area. Don’t miss the Sandy Bunker next to the fitness corner.

A very large park equipped with child playing and elderly exercise facilities. Glad to see the old trees there. Leisure walking track is available.
