About W.W.Chan & Sons Tailor Ltd.
W.W.Chan & Sons Tailor Ltd. is a tailor or shoe repairer in Central, Central and Western, at 香港島中環皇后大道中30號8樓B室. Locals and visitors alike tend to check the same things before going, so this page brings together the practical details: where it is, how to get in touch, when it is open and how customers rate it. This is an upstairs shop: the way in is usually through the building lobby rather than from the street, so check the building name, floor and unit before you go and allow a few minutes for the lift.
Shops in Hong Kong keep long hours, many until 21:00 or 22:00, and mall shops usually open around 10:00. Keep your receipt: returns and exchanges are generally at the shop's own discretion, so ask before you buy, and for electronics check whether the item is a local-warranty model. If a dispute arises, the Consumer Council can advise or take a complaint. A made-to-measure suit usually needs two or three fittings, so mention your deadline at the start.
Google lists the opening hours as Mon–Sat 10:00–19:00, Sun closed. It is open 6 days a week. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. Phone: 2366 9738. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first. Its website is shop.wwchan.com, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.
It has a Google rating of 4.3 out of 5 from 27 reviews, a strong score that points to consistently positive experiences.
Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays.

WW Chan has some of the best craftsmanship in Hong Kong, but their terrible customer service completely ruined the bespoke experience. The consultation was frustrating because the cutter was passive. There is zero price transparency. Nothing is marked, so you are forced to ask for the price of every single fabric bunch you touch, which gets old fast. The cutter offered almost no actual fitting advice. When I specifically asked what he recommended, he just brushed me off with "it's your choice". In contrast, Gieves and Hawkes on Savile Row gave me professional, well informed fitting advice based on my build. The front desk was worse. She was cold, dismissive, and unknowledgeable about the cutter's work and client's requirement. There were no hospitality and no basic client engagement. On Savile Row, tailors treat you like a friend and an equal. In WW Chan, they make you feel like a nuisance. Honestly, half the point of bespoke is building a relationship so your future commissions get even better. They don't care about doing that. No matter how good the craft is, I don't want to wear a suit that just reminds me of how unpleasant the staff was.

I have been a customer of WW Chan for about 45 years. When my previous Hong Kong tailor on Mody Road closed down due to retirement of its proprietors, I did some research and chose WW Chan, and have been congratulating myself ever since on a fortuitous choice. Unlike other tailors who tell you what to do, their fitters listen to what you want and if it makes sense try to achieve it for you. Their ability to judge physical irregularities is very good. My suits and shirts are comfortable in practical movement, not just when your arms are hanging limp. Fabric selection is vast. This is not an “overnight” tailor. You will need several fittings and the whole process will take a month or more, even for shirts. It’s worth the wait.

No women’s tailoring available though mentioned on website. Somewhat passive attitude and could not offer recommendations. Found a more helpful and reputable place soon after.

Great service and overall excellent experience. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. The turnaround time is also extremely reasonable. Lastly, I love that they make everything in store unlike some other high-end tailors that ship their stuff off to other countries.
