About 西灣營地

西灣營地 is listed under holiday camps & campsites in Sai Kung. The address is 新界大浪. Below you will find what people usually look up before a visit: the exact location, contact details, opening hours and the Google rating.

Attractions, ferries and rental services are busiest at weekends, on public holidays and in the school holidays, so book popular slots early. Hong Kong drives on the left, and visitors can generally drive on a valid overseas licence for up to 12 months; boat trips and ferries may be suspended in bad weather, so keep an eye on Hong Kong Observatory warnings. Campsites and holiday camps are most popular in school holidays and long weekends, and some are booked through a dedicated system.

No opening hours have been published here yet; the Google Maps link on this page shows the latest details. Bear in mind that many small shops close over Lunar New Year and may not open while a typhoon or black rainstorm warning is in force. You can call 2459 9887; a phone call is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or how to get there. Its website is afcd.gov.hk, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.

At 4.2 out of 5 on Google (167 reviews), it sits mid-table; the written reviews say more about service, prices and waiting times than the number does.

Sai Kung is part of the Sai Kung District in the New Territories. The New Territories are made up of new towns such as Sha Tin, Tsuen Wan, Tuen Mun, Yuen Long, Tai Po, Sheung Shui and Tseung Kwan O, where malls are often linked to MTR stations or transport interchanges, making everyday shopping and eating easy. There are also walled villages and countryside, and country parks and trails, including the MacLehose Trail, run through the area, popular for hiking and cycling at weekends. Sai Kung town's waterfront has seafood restaurants and a pier for kaitos, many visitors take boats out to nearby islands on holidays, and weekend traffic can be heavy.

A very ideal site for hikers where you get to make memorable memories with family and friends. Ideal for corporates and schools programs as well. The hiking trails are paved and clear and signage is at it's best every 500 meters letting you know how long you have hiked and how long you have left. The campsite is by the beach where you can swim and body board in the beautiful waves. You bring your own tents and camping gear. You are also able to hire tents, surf boards and wet suits from ATEAM EDVENTURES SHOP which is right at the campsite at competitive rates. The scene is amazing as well as you're surrounded by tree studded hills. You also get to see the Hongkong water reservoir next to the sea which Is a spectacular sight. There are a few shops and restaurants run by the locals selling local cuisines, soft and alcoholic drinks as well. A river runs right in the middle on the campsite and you can go canyoning and make some splashes in the one of the three pools to cool yourself down. You won't regret this plan guys. Go on ahead. Its calling out for you and its waiting.

Compared to most places in Hong Kong, it's remote. There are only four busses from Sai Kung to Sai Wan Pavillion after which you have to hike 3km to Sai Wan Village. The campsite is on the beach. The views are undeniably good, and the waters inviting. The waves are often strong. However, the current brings a ton of garbage from the ocean to the shore. I'm glad it is cleaned often. The campsite is right next to the village. There are restaurants at the village but they close early. It's best to come prepaid with enough food and water for your stay. If it's breezy, most tents will let in sand which I found to be a nuisance. Despite there only being 4 buses a day from Sai Kung to Sai Wan, it seems to be quite popular probably because it lies on the Maclehose trail. All in all, I love the campsite and I'm certain I'll be back.

amazing camping area with sandy beach and no too wavy ocean for swim, toilet available too. it’s not super easy accessible, around 30 mins walk after taxi dropped off point. its mostly downhill steps on the maclehose trail. . quite busy on the weekends as lots of foreigners family carrying loads of camping items in for a getaway weekend. sad to see lots of burning marks everywhere on the grass and rocks…. make sure to keep the environment clean and make 200% sure to hike in earlier as you might not be able to find a spot for your camp if you are late.

You can reach this campsite via boat from Sai Kung or by a 45 minute walk from Sai Wan pavilion. There is a concrete path throughout so you can use a trolley to help transport your camping equipment if need be. There are toilets at the campsite but they have been closed for several months. There is a functioning toilet and bathroom about 100 metres away from the cafés (it's signposted). You can buy simple food (around 70-80 HKD for one dish which is probably enough for 2 people) at the restaurants in Sai Wan village. There is also bottled water and other drinks available. There aren't any shady spots along the beach so wherever you pitch your tent you will have to endure the full force of the sun. And at dawn, the sun's rays will hit your tent directly as the sun rises from in front of the beach. By 7am when I camped here yesterday, it was already unbearably hot. The beach is good for swimming, however. The water was clear and there was no litter in it when I was there. I would say that Ham Tin Beach is better for camping though unless you go by boat, that beach is less accessible than Sai Wan.
