Like all Hong Kong transport, this pier is very well organized, efficient, and getting more and more expensive - 43 HKD now on weekends or public holidays. But if one doesn't want to swim to the outlying islands or pay hundreds of dollars for a private speedboat or junk this is how one goes. Ferries from Pier 4 will bring one to either Yung Shue Wan or the fishing village and restaurants of Sok Kwu Wan. The new ships are sleek and fast and super comfortable with open air seating at the stern should one prefer. Other ferries to the same places will depart from Aberdeen and are a bit cheaper. Ferries for Mo Tat Wan depart only from Aberdeen. Enjoy the ride and most especially explore Lamma, the Territory's third-largest island, and in the south one of its most compelling.

Only 3 stars because of the unhelpful staff 's attitude. Today (6-Apr-2024), 9:31PM. The pier no.4 staffs (I saw a lady and a man) were not helpful. We were flying from our country with 4 big luggages since the morning, and running to pier no. 4 like hell after we arrived at HK Station, in order to catch 9:30 ferry to Lamma, because next schedule is only 10:30 PM. We saw the gate is just close because it was 9:31 PM (just a minute over) but it could be helped. We also experienced that that ferry schedule usually waits for the belated passengers (sometimes even 5 minutes over). Thus, I tried to get help from the pier staffs to open the gate for us. They saw that I was trying to call. But, unbelievably, the staffs refuse to avoid to help. They saw we were very tired of running with heavy luggages. But it is too ugly to ignore to help out to the ones who need help. We were very disappointed with that kind of incident. I believe the staffs who are working at public related workplaces must be kind and helpful if the scenes are within their capabilities range.

To cross the Bay on a boat and view night time Hong Kong is not to be missed!

Great. On time and clean, mostly. The boat is on time but late comers at the gate take advantage of the nice gate attendant, so expect delays of 4-9 mins. I've also come late at times on Lamma side, try be there 4mins before departure. Aircon on the boat but not on the piers.
