Hidden Gem at Haiphong Road Temporary Market: The Wonton Noodles Will Change Your Mind. I’ll be upfront. I normally avoid Hong Kong wonton noodles because of the strong kansui taste. This place changed my mind completely. The noodles have a clean, tangy bite with none of that harsh alkaline aftertaste. The wontons are generously filled with whole prawns and seasoned pork, plump and juicy in equal measure. But the real story is the soup. I asked the senior lady behind the counter her secret and she told us without hesitation: whole dried flatfish, boiled low and slow for hours. No powder, no shortcuts. This is exactly how the great old establishments have always done it, and most modern stalls stopped bothering long ago. We drank every last drop. The beef brisket noodles were just as good. Beef tender, brisket even softer, slow-braised until the collagen breaks down completely. Rich sauce coating every strand. Finished the whole bowl. Beef balls were juicy and bouncy with a satisfying snap. Also finished. All of this for HKD35 (the wanton noodle I mean) One of the best wonton noodles in Hong Kong, possibly the most underrated.

Simple, very clean Hong Kong food stall market. There are three or more menus offering the typical HK breakfast and dinner foods: DimSum, noodle bowls, etc The DimSun is excellent for its price; Noodles are a bargain as well.
