About buff Café - Prince Edward
buff Café - Prince Edward, a café in Sham Shui Po, is at 九龍深水埗楓樹街5A號號地下. Before heading over it is worth checking the hours, phone number and Google rating below, so the trip is not wasted.
When choosing a café or dessert shop, look at whether prices are shown, whether plant milks or less-sweet options are available, and whether there is a time limit on seats. Many open seven days a week, but some small shops take a weekly day off; for cakes or large orders of pastries, calling ahead is the safest bet. If you plan to work or study in a café, check for power sockets and any seating time limit.
Google lists the opening hours as daily, 09:30–19:00. It opens every day of the week. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. No phone number is listed, so the Google Maps link on this page is the best starting point for directions and any contact details Google has.
It has a Google rating of 3.8 out of 5 from 281 reviews. Opinions are mixed but broadly steady, and the latest reviews are the best guide to what to expect.
Sham Shui Po is part of the Sham Shui Po District in Kowloon. Around Kwun Tong and Kowloon Bay many industrial buildings now house offices, restaurants, gyms and studios, while Kai Tak is a newer district. Kowloon's streets are busiest in the evening and at weekends, shops keep long hours with many open until about 22:00, and the Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan and Tuen Ma lines plus buses and minibuses reach almost everywhere. Sham Shui Po is known for the electronics and second-hand stalls of Apliu Street and the fabric and button shops around Ki Lung Street and Yu Chau Street, where many older shops still prefer cash.

Ordered the pistachio cheesecake and no pistachio flavour and can only taste cream cheese. Tasted like it was left in the fridge for a few days, not smooth at all.

The atmosphere was nice. However, we waited for 40 minutes for our food. Fries were very obviously cold and reheated and were kinda tasteless. Nachos were just Doritos with sauce (I’m not sure if guacamole was real avocado, there were no visible pieces in it) and the sandwiches were all heavy fried. They tasted alright, apart from the fact that I found this plastic line in my sandwich. Drinks are good as long as you add oat milk, otherwise it also tastes significantly less flavorful. If you come for pictures, good choice. For food, go somewhere else.

During the early April Easter holiday, I visited Buff on Maple Street in Prince Edward and had a mediocre experience. I ordered lobster sauce fusilli lunghi bucati with prawn for $148. While there was no 10% service charge, the service wasn't great. There was a curly-haired man with glasses standing at the cashier with an annoyed attitude who seemed unwilling to engage with customers, giving off a very cold and unwelcoming vibe. Not sure if he's the owner or just a staff member, but either way it affected the experience. I also waited about 30 minutes for my pasta to arrive after ordering. The dish was passable in size, with three shrimps, but the lobster sauce was bland and not flavourful at all. Overall, I wouldn't return for dining even though it's recommended by my friend in the first place.

Nice lunch spot. Food was pretty. Prawn toast was quite good but the earl grey cheesecake and tiramisu were nothing special. The matcha latte was more milk than matcha. Place was a bit noisy and it was very hard to hear the guy behind the counter.

Edit 2026: while the place is clean and still looks OK the food and service has definitely gone downhill. We were looking forward to coming back after a couple of great experiences before but apart from waffles still being yummy everything else was just not up to par for a lunch that was 230 per head. Five star down to 2/3. Staff looked as if they have given up too… 2025: Just popped in on a weekday to try. Good food and drink quality, nice surprise! A little bit pricey but OK. Staff is nice and place is clean. Savoury dishes all great, loved the curry chicken. Pistachio basque cheesecake so so, but matcha waffles so good!
