Food was generally above average but slightly on the salty side. Highly recommend the mantis shrimp (避風塘瀨尿蝦肉) the quality of the shrimp was fresh. Came on a weekday and it was packed. As a result table wasn’t properly cleaned and service was a bit slow. However worth trying.

Please ignore the negative reviews left by other white people. Trust me—they don’t really know what good local food is. (Fun fact: they didn’t even get chili peppers until the 16th century, so spice is still a relatively new concept for them.) The food at this place absolutely blew my mind. There were only two of us, so sadly we couldn’t order the entire menu, but we tried the infamous Gu Lao Rou in ice bath. Yes, sweet-and-sour pork literally chilling in ice water. Sounds strange, but it’s incredibly refreshing. Normally Gu Lao Rou is served hot, but here the ice makes it even crispier, and the pork itself feels more firm and springy. We also ordered salt and pepper mantis shrimp—on a completely different level. The shrimp was perfectly crispy-flaky while still amazingly fresh. Each bite makes you want to smile like an idiot. The service was welcoming and warm, though with a bit of that authentic Hong Kong flair—if it gets busy, expect efficiency over small talk (and honestly, that’s part of the charm).

Went at 9pm. The Gu Lo Yuk in ice was bad, even though we were recommended to try. Price is not cheap. Came because 'Albert' said its good. We landed in HK late and this was the first restaurant we went due to the recommendation. It helps to make other food in HK nicer the next few days.

Totally worth to come. Their sweet and sour pork in ice bath delighted my eye. Crispy outside and juicy inside. The sauce are spot on too! I ordered all the signature dishes which did not disappointed me! Love this place
