About 利苑酒家 (時代廣場店)

Lei Garden was founded in 1973 in Hong Kong. Since then, it has grown into one of the largest Cantonese restaurant groups in Asia, with 17 restaurants across Hong Kong, mainland China and Singapore.

Lei Garden’s consistently high quality Cantonese cuisine and contemporary interpretations of regional specialties has earned the Group numerous awards and accolades.

利苑酒家 (時代廣場店), a Cantonese and dim sum restaurant in Causeway Bay, Wan Chai, is at 10/F, 時代廣場1 Matheson St, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong Island. Before heading over it is worth checking the hours, phone number and Google rating below, so the trip is not wasted. The address puts it on an upper floor of a building (an "upstairs shop", very common in Hong Kong), so note the floor and unit number; lifts can be slow at busy times, and some older buildings only have stairs.

Many Hong Kong restaurants add a 10% service charge to the bill, and tipping beyond that is optional. Popular places fill up at lunchtime and on weekend evenings, so book by phone, WhatsApp or a platform such as OpenRice; some set a time limit or a minimum spend. Most offer both dine-in and takeaway, and Octopus, credit cards, FPS and PayMe are widely accepted, though smaller places may take cash only.

Google lists the opening hours as daily, 11:30–16:00 and 18:00–22:30. It is open seven days a week. Lunch and dinner are served in separate sessions with a break in between. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. You can call 2506 3828; a phone call is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or how to get there. Its website is leigarden.hk, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.

It has a Google rating of 3.8 out of 5 from 708 reviews. Opinions are mixed but broadly steady, and the latest reviews are the best guide to what to expect.

Causeway Bay is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The island is steep, with many streets climbing the hillside; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and the Peak Tram runs up to The Peak. Offices, malls and old neighbourhood shops sit side by side, restaurants are packed at the office lunch hour (roughly 13:00–14:00), and with parking scarce the MTR, tram or bus is usually easier than driving.

Nice restaurant, spacious, food tasted good, presentation ok. Had a feeling the size / portion shrank! The staff was kind and helpful, only when you could grab them. It's a busy day and busy hours, quite understandable. Staff shortage is an industrywise issue. Enjoyed !

Picked up Lei Garden's 如意蘿蔔糕 and 招牌棗皇糕 as a prize from Ulifestyle – perfect Chinese New Year treats from a Michelin restaurant! Fried the 棗皇糕 with egg on the first day of the year: golden crispy outside, chewy and moist inside with rich jujube flavor and creamy coconut layer – sweet but not overpowering, so nourishing! Shared the 如意蘿蔔糕 with mom and family: fresh radish sweetness, succulent shrimp and sausage, crispy edges after frying. Great for self-enjoy or gifting, high quality and convenient online delivery. Highly recommend for CNY vibes!

Having our Christmas Eve Dinner at Lei Garden. They speak Fookien. We ordered Peking Duck, crispy bean curd sheet rolled with mushroom, honey walnuts , yang chow fried rice, soft tofu, roasted pork, clam with vegetables, lobster with egg white, tao miaw vegetables or Chinese spinach. The food was great 👍. The kids loved the tofu and the roasted pork. The adults loved the Peking duck and the veggies. Wonderful Xmas Eve Chinese dinner. This place is pricy.

Lei Garden is a great spot for a classic Cantonese meal with very solid quality. We enjoyed a table full of dishes – silky dumplings in a savoury sauce, beautifully roasted meats with crispy skin and juicy meat, and a simple plate of stir-fried greens that was full of wok aroma. The huge tanks of live fish, crab and lobsters near the entrance really show how fresh their seafood selection is, and it’s fun to walk past and choose what you want. Prices are quite reasonable for the standard of food and the comfortable dining room. Service can be a bit slow at times, especially when the restaurant is busy, but the staff are still polite and the tasty food makes the wait worthwhile. Overall, a good choice for a relaxed Cantonese meal with fresh seafood and reliable flavours.
