About 絲茶

The Original Tea House of Hong Kong. Using a 50-year-old family recipe, Silk. has created an unimaginably smooth taste that has made it "Hong Kong's Best-Kept Secret."

絲茶, a tea and juice shop in Central, Central and Western, is at G/F, 98 Wellington St, Central, Hong Kong Island. Before heading over it is worth checking the hours, phone number and Google rating below, so the trip is not wasted.

When choosing a café or dessert shop, look at whether prices are shown, whether plant milks or less-sweet options are available, and whether there is a time limit on seats. Many open seven days a week, but some small shops take a weekly day off; for cakes or large orders of pastries, calling ahead is the safest bet. Sweetness and ice levels can usually be chosen, and some shops give a discount if you bring your own cup.

Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Central is Hong Kong's financial and business heart; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links the streets up the hill, Lan Kwai Fong and SoHo come alive at night, and the Central piers serve the Outlying Islands.

Great place. Lovely bubble tea! I bought the Mango Moon and it was delicious and affordable! Thanks so much from the UK!

The staff was very warm and accommodating! They recommended me a drink since I wasn’t really sure what to order and the drink was fantastic! The tea was really strong and blended well with the milk. The boba pearls were easy to chew and served as the sweetener (since I asked for only 30% sugar). I think the topping was cream cheese foam with honeycomb crumbs (?) which was a delight when incorporated with the drink. I would definitely recommend this and would be going back on my next visit! I had Smooth King 30% sweetness 100% ice cold!

Smooth Silk (HKD 36) was a classic Hong Kong milk tea recipe perfected over more than 50 years. Brewed through the traditional “sock” method, it delivered a silky texture with minimal to moderate astringency, softened further by the 50% sugar level. Served with less ice, it was smooth, sweet, and refreshing — ideal for a hot day. The richness left you feeling full, almost inducing a food coma after finishing the large cup. Of course, you can get 100% sugar and normal ice level too or if you want toppings, can be added too.

This new edition, sesame mochi, is very nice!👍🏻 I chose 30% sweetness for the milk mixed with smooth black sesame, as the small bites of black sesame mochis in the drink had enough sweetness. I like it, as the mochis are similar to small-sized 湯圓 while you pair it with fresh milk & sesame, rather than ginger soup 😋

I used to come here all the time, mainly because they’re one of the few places with oat milk. The bubbles are always chewy and perfectly cooked, which kept me coming back. The flavors have felt kinda underwhelming, and I’m honestly not sure what all the hype is about. What really got me though was the service. The staff used to be friendly, no matter how busy they were, but last night, I asked for extra bubbles (which I always do) and the cashier just said "NO"—no explanation, no nothing. I was confused and a little annoyed, especially since I’ve never had an issue with this before. The black sesame drink was still pretty good, just the right amount of sweetness. But after that interaction, I didn’t even bother using my loyalty card, and I don’t think I’ll be coming back anytime soon.
