Take the escalators the walk a little higher (look out for small brown signs) and suddenly you're at the Tai Kwun: revitalized colonial police station and prison complex wbich has been transformed into a cultural heritage and arts center—perfect for history buffs and art lovers alike. A pleasant free seating area and a couple of bars - the Aperol bar for a couple of draught beers :)

It’s a fun spot, though not necessarily worth a special trip unless you’re already nearby. What makes it unique is the view, being able to peek into the windows of surrounding buildings and businesses from that height is surprisingly intriguing. If you look down from time to time, you’ll notice plenty of hidden gems that add to the experience.

It took me a while to figure out how to get here. After arriving at Central Station or Central Ferry Pier 7, you need to walk toward IFC Mall. From there, take the escalator up to Level 1 (L1), then continue walking. Remember to follow the signs pointing toward Central Market or the Hang Seng Bank (or just follow the direction of the HS Bank when you see it outside the IFC mall in case you can’t see the signs within the IFC mall). Eventually, you’ll reach the starting point of the escalator system. Be careful though—there’s another elevated walkway nearby, so it’s easy to take the wrong path if you’re not paying attention. This route leads to the famous Central–Mid-Levels Escalator, which is considered the longest outdoor covered escalator system in the world.
