First and foremost, do your research before you approach any lawyer especially in Hong Kong. Know the law regarding your case and print out information on your first encounter. Their first priorities are covering their overhead not your best interests- the founder/ owner of this firm will recruit you, say nice words then endorse you to another partner. That partner will then let the associate do the work. If it's too tedious and time-consuming, they'll ask you to do the leg work yourself. If you are deemed not an important client, you'll be relegated to the "back burner" but will end up anyway paying $40,000 for just listening to your case and leaving a deposit which they call "trust". They'll be nice to you in the beginning but after you've paid the retainer, they become complacent. Buyer Beware.
