As part of the administration of my late wife's estate, we needed legal assistance in Hong Kong, where she still held assets after having lived there for many years, although she was residing in France at the time of her passing. After consulting several law firms, we ultimately chose Slotine on the recommendation of a friend. Their assignment included: - contacting the relevant banks - obtaining a full inventory of the assets to be repatriated - identifying the documents required to obtain the Grant of Probate - reviewing and verifying the compliance of the documents provided - preparing and filing the application with the Hong Kong Probate Registry - monitoring the progress of the case and responding to any additional requests from the Court - obtaining the Grant of Probate and forwarding it to the banks - liaising with the banks throughout the process - overseeing the transfer and repatriation of the assets. To help control costs, Slotine suggested from the outset that we handle the collection of the French documents ourselves.
