About 大發粥粉麵

大發粥粉麵 is a Cantonese and dim sum restaurant in Wan Chai, at 香港島灣仔堅拿道東. Locals and visitors alike tend to check the same things before going, so this page brings together the practical details: where it is, how to get in touch, when it is open and how customers rate it.

Many Hong Kong restaurants add a 10% service charge to the bill, and tipping beyond that is optional. Popular places fill up at lunchtime and on weekend evenings, so book by phone, WhatsApp or a platform such as OpenRice; some set a time limit or a minimum spend. Most offer both dine-in and takeaway, and Octopus, credit cards, FPS and PayMe are widely accepted, though smaller places may take cash only. Dim sum restaurants usually charge a per-person tea fee, and dishes are priced by size; weekend mornings from about 10:00 to lunchtime are the busiest, and many places give out queue tickets. Book wedding and birthday banquets months ahead.

Google shows it as open around the clock; any changes on public holidays or in severe weather are announced by the business itself. You can call 2940 6855; a phone call is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or how to get there.

It has a Google rating of 3.4 out of 5 from 92 reviews, which is on the low side, so read the most recent reviews before you go.

Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

Great place to have a cheung fun and congee to start my day, and there were several delicious vegan options. The staff was friendly, and the seating quite standard. Approach is from Canal Road West, not back alley, as suggested by Google Maps this morning.

:) everything's porridge! I like it. Lol. They have the chao mian (i like this better) and mi-fen too. Their you tiao is crispy (thank God!)... We tried the century egg ting zai porridge. Loved it. Ordered the pumpkin ting zai porridge but somehow she got that wrong and served us the blood cubes one. Thankfully, the taste didnt fuse into the porridge and we could fish those out and the pumpkiny taste of the porridge was lovely. Friends out there who love the old school blood cubes would love these. I like how their porridges variety is limited (ting zai, pork, etc) but yet broadened because of how they categorise it (century egg, pumpkin, etc). Its repeated but not really. Im not too sure if i got that across right. Lol. They have cheong-fan too but we didnt order due to too much food. The crispy fritters (you tiao) would have been brilliant in the cheong fan. Overall, recommended. Food's good, aside from the wrong order. Service staff is okie.. not rude, just very... hongkonger. Lol. Atmosphere, very local and warm. U'll love it too.

I woke up super early (4am) and was wondering around causeway bay until I found this place that was open. I had the fish congee and the steamed beef rice roll. Both were really delicious and I would come back again because they are open early and food is really tasty and fresh.

Authentic HK feel. Is the usual HK style where there are only little tables and most of the time have to share with strangers. Order fast and eat fast. 50 over varieties of food selection. Their main food is porridge. Love their pork liver and blood porridge. Ate 2 times. Is a great place for any meal time such as breakfast and supper.. All the food is nice, even the dessert is so authentic with the orange peel (not suitable for youngsters as it gives a bitter aftertaste) Can pay by cash or octopus.

I like the variety that they have over here besides the traditional porridges all of the options available in porridge is also available via noodles perhaps what is most interesting is to actually have carrot cake but it's really turn it kick as well as really really good fried noodles
