Many Hong Kong restaurants add a 10% service charge to the bill, and tipping beyond that is optional. Popular places fill up at lunchtime and on weekend evenings, so book by phone, WhatsApp or a platform such as OpenRice; some set a time limit or a minimum spend. Most offer both dine-in and takeaway, and Octopus, credit cards, FPS and PayMe are widely accepted, though smaller places may take cash only. Dim sum restaurants usually charge a per-person tea fee, and dishes are priced by size; weekend mornings from about 10:00 to lunchtime are the busiest, and many places give out queue tickets. Book wedding and birthday banquets months ahead.
Google lists the opening hours as daily, 05:30–16:00. It opens every day of the week. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. Phone: 2520 0138. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first.

Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

A very local dim sum spot tucked away in an alley. The staff were incredibly friendly, which is actually rare in hk. Everything was delicious, but the tofu skin roll with chicken and taro was the best. I’d never tried that dim sum before, and it was so so good. I can’t wait to come back.

Had a great dim sum experience at Kam Fai Dim Sum — and you can immediately tell it’s where the locals eat. The place was bustling early, with a steady flow of regulars, which is always a good sign. The dim sum was fresh, hot, and authentic, with well-seasoned fillings and delicate wrappers that didn’t feel mass-produced. Portions were generous and reasonably priced, especially for Hong Kong. Service was fast and efficient, very typical of a local dim sum spot. No frills, just solid, delicious dim sum in a lively atmosphere. If you want a genuine local dining experience rather than a touristy one, this is definitely worth visiting.

Even though it’s just a small shop, the food quality is genuinely very good. The owner is incredibly sweet and welcoming — something that’s quite rare among the surrounding restaurants. Most of the customers here are locals and elderly regulars, which already tells me the place is legit. The shrimp dumplings were excellent, and the shrimp rice rolls were also very delicious. Overall, this was one of the best dim sum meals I’ve had in Hong Kong.

Had delicious shrimp dumplings, glutinous rice rolls, custard buns and leaf wrapped chicken in glutinous rice here. Everything we ate were exploding with flavour. The service was very friendly and warm, and the tea served was so tasty, we ended up having two full pots of it. Great place to have a traditional Chinese breakfast

In the words of Hong Kongers “好吃!” meaning good to eat. I ordered three items and two of them I can’t find in Singapore. Dace fish dumplings and chicken with ginger sauce buns. The size of prawn dumplings puts lots of our local prawn dumplings to shame. It’s not only big but packed with prawn and it’s delicious. I’ll definitely go back to try their other items.
