About 海記燒臘飯店
海記燒臘飯店 is listed under Cantonese & Dim Sum in Wan Chai. The address is 香港島灣仔. Below you will find what people usually look up before a visit: the exact location, contact details, opening hours and the Google rating.
When choosing a restaurant, check whether the menu shows prices and the service charge, whether you need to book, and whether there are vegetarian or children's options. Restaurants must hold a licence from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, usually displayed inside. Lunar New Year, Mother's Day, Christmas and New Year's Eve are peak booking times, and some restaurants offer set menus or add a surcharge on festive days, so ask ahead. Dim sum restaurants usually charge a per-person tea fee, and dishes are priced by size; weekend mornings from about 10:00 to lunchtime are the busiest, and many places give out queue tickets. Book wedding and birthday banquets months ahead.
Google lists the opening hours as Mon–Sat 10:30–19:00, Sun closed. That makes 6 working days a week. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. You can call 2574 4798; a phone call is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or how to get there.
It has a Google rating of 4.1 out of 5 from 134 reviews. Opinions are mixed but broadly steady, and the latest reviews are the best guide to what to expect.
Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The island is steep, with many streets climbing the hillside; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and the Peak Tram runs up to The Peak. Offices, malls and old neighbourhood shops sit side by side, restaurants are packed at the office lunch hour (roughly 13:00–14:00), and with parking scarce the MTR, tram or bus is usually easier than driving. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

Usually, I don’t really write an essay about such ordinary restaurant. Roasted meat, you can’t get any more boring than that. It’s everywhere here in Hong Kong, it’s a staple, it’s like talking about bagel in New York. But this restaurant is something else. This is actually my fifth visit here, first time, dining alone, just plain-old roast meat. Is it good? Yes, definitely up there in my top 5, but wasn’t really standing out in any way. Last time, I brought my friend from the US here, we’re both a foodie and we met during a solo trip in Bologna in a hostel. He was traveling around the world. I met him in Summer ‘24, he visited Hong Kong 1 year later, still traveling. This, fifth time. I went there at 11 AM on a Saturday with my friend. They just opened, no crowds. We sat down and a lady immediately brought us two bowls of soothing hot soup, made with winter melon, some beans and pork. I saw an old man with an apron, probably the owner. I waved at him and ordered an assorted meat platter with sweet BBQ pork, crispy BBQ pork, and roasted duck, and 2 bowl of rice. It wasn’t even on the menu, there isn’t even a price for that, I just told him I wanted this and that, he told me “$100

Incredible meal! The roast pork and suckling pig combo was easily the best part—flavorful and perfectly roasted. The roast goose tasted great and was highly seasoned, though just a bit tougher than the A-Cheng goose I tried recently. Love that they provide free tea and soup. The soup genuinely tastes like a comforting, homemade grandma's soup. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The lamb curry is a symphony of robust flavors, each bite revealing a depth of umami that lingers delightfully on the palate. The tender lamb, bathed in a rich, aromatic curry, showcases a meticulous balance of spices that elevates the dish to new heights. Equally impressive is the roasted duck, whose skin glistens with a perfect flavor, giving way to succulent meat that is infused with a savory richness. Service here is remarkably swift and efficient, a testament to the bustling nature of this establishment. While the ambience is characteristically noisy and crowded—a hallmark of a thriving dai pai dong—it adds to the vibrant atmosphere, immersing diners in the lively pulse of the dining experience.
