About Hoiyou

地道新派中菜✌🏻

Hoiyou, a Cantonese and dim sum restaurant in Kwun Tong, is at 九龍觀塘駿業街67號. Before heading over it is worth checking the hours, phone number and Google rating below, so the trip is not wasted.

When choosing a restaurant, check whether the menu shows prices and the service charge, whether you need to book, and whether there are vegetarian or children's options. Restaurants must hold a licence from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, usually displayed inside. Lunar New Year, Mother's Day, Christmas and New Year's Eve are peak booking times, and some restaurants offer set menus or add a surcharge on festive days, so ask ahead. Dim sum restaurants usually charge a per-person tea fee, and dishes are priced by size; weekend mornings from about 10:00 to lunchtime are the busiest, and many places give out queue tickets. Book wedding and birthday banquets months ahead.

Google lists the opening hours as Mon–Tue 11:30–17:00 and 17:30–22:00, Wed 05:30–22:00, Thu–Sun 11:30–17:00 and 17:30–22:00. It is open seven days a week. Lunch and dinner are served in separate sessions with a break in between. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. Phone: 9847 9707. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first. It is a mobile number, and many local businesses also answer enquiries on WhatsApp.

At 4.0 out of 5 on Google (248 reviews), it sits mid-table; the written reviews say more about service, prices and waiting times than the number does.

Kwun Tong is part of the Kwun Tong District in Kowloon. Kowloon is densely packed: Nathan Road runs north from Tsim Sha Tsui towards Prince Edward, lined along with its side streets by shops, restaurants and upstairs businesses, and most places are a few minutes' walk from an MTR station. Mong Kok's street markets, Sham Shui Po's electronics and fabric streets and Kowloon City's Thai restaurants are familiar landmarks for shopping and eating. Many Kwun Tong industrial buildings now house offices, restaurants, gyms and studios; note the building name and floor, as access can differ in the evening and at weekends.

Value for money. The seating areas are located in small rooms, which are quite quiet today (Sunday). The food is quite tasty - though not entirely healthy :p

Service is quick and practical. The mantis shrimp seafood fried rice has real wok hei. Grains stay separate with crunchy edges; shrimp and mantis shrimp are firm and sweet. Flavors lean savory with a gentle sea aroma. Half roast chicken arrives crackling; juicy, best with the sweet and sour dip. Two honey-glazed dried oysters are sticky, rich, and finish clean. Bill was fair for the portions. I’d definitely come back for the fried rice!

Hided dragon in a cooked food market. You can say this restaurant is typical Dai Pai Dong in Kwun Tong area. But you can enjoy an air-conditioning indoor. They are quite popular as the prices are compared to other restaurants in Kwun Tong. I This restaurant serves stir-fry, fried rices and seafood dishes. As known the “Fried Sping Chicken” is the most famous dishes. But you will have to pre-order it by phone. Other than that I have tried the “Steamed mantis shrimp”, “sea-urchin and seafood fried rice”, “Scrambled Eggs With Black Truffles and prawns” and the curry beef brisket. The steamed mantis is so cheap and sweet and it just priced at $68 HKD. Services are ok, it’s clean and very good prices. You will enjoy the vibes of Dai Pai Dong as you will smell, hear the aroma and smoky while chefs stir-flying on kitchen next store. The food and neighbourhood atmosphere will make up for it.
