About James Bon Bon Bakery

James Bon Bon Bakery is a bakery in Causeway Bay, Wan Chai, at 香港島銅鑼灣邊寧頓街No. 9-11號. Locals and visitors alike tend to check the same things before going, so this page brings together the practical details: where it is, how to get in touch, when it is open and how customers rate it.

Cafés, bakeries, dessert and drinks shops are often mainly takeaway with a few seats, and weekend afternoons are the busiest. Many accept Octopus, credit cards and e-wallets, and some run loyalty schemes or pre-orders; birthday cakes and festive boxes (mooncakes at Mid-Autumn, for example) usually need ordering in advance, a few days ahead on popular dates. Bakeries usually bake fresh in the morning and late afternoon, and popular items can sell out early.

Google lists the opening hours as daily, 07:00–22:30. It opens every day of the week. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. No phone number is listed, so the Google Maps link on this page is the best starting point for directions and any contact details Google has. More information is on its website, instagram.com.

At 3.5 out of 5 on Google (143 reviews), it sits mid-table; the written reviews say more about service, prices and waiting times than the number does.

Causeway Bay is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The island is steep, with many streets climbing the hillside; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and the Peak Tram runs up to The Peak. Offices, malls and old neighbourhood shops sit side by side, restaurants are packed at the office lunch hour (roughly 13:00–14:00), and with parking scarce the MTR, tram or bus is usually easier than driving. Causeway Bay is packed with malls and department stores and is very crowded at weekends; nearby Victoria Park hosts the Lunar New Year fair.

I come here every now and then for the mochi bun. I love the wide variety of flavors and they’re genuinely delicious. Unfortunately, the service from the middle-aged employee often deters me from visiting more frequently. She always seems unfriendly and annoyed all the time.

Below expectations egg tarts, above expectations hygiene and unfriendliness, cramped store, the attitude of an unskilled middle-aged staff lady — not worth going out of your way to visit. 🥰

Mochi bun came with many varieties. Good for sharing. Strong aroma and nice color. Good to eat when it’s warm.

Absolutely amazing bakery! The egg tarts are out of this world—perfectly flaky and incredibly delicious. The staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. A must-visit for any dessert lover! 100/10 recommend

Waited for around 15 minutes to buy the so called popular mochi buns. Each person is entitled to buy 6 in total. We bought 2, and totally did not regret it because we really could not taste the reason for such hype😑 The mochi buns were hot when we bought it, and it cools down and deflates super quickly, like in 3-4 minutes. Before you know it already became this flat-ish pastry thing which tasted very mediocre. If you are aiming to try the mochi buns, I would urge you to try different food.
