About 尚文潮州菜

尚文潮州菜, a Cantonese and dim sum restaurant in Wan Chai, is at 香港島灣仔盧押道23號2樓. Before heading over it is worth checking the hours, phone number and Google rating below, so the trip is not wasted. This is an upstairs shop: the way in is usually through the building lobby rather than from the street, so check the building name, floor and unit before you go and allow a few minutes for the lift.

Many Hong Kong restaurants add a 10% service charge to the bill, and tipping beyond that is optional. Popular places fill up at lunchtime and on weekend evenings, so book by phone, WhatsApp or a platform such as OpenRice; some set a time limit or a minimum spend. Most offer both dine-in and takeaway, and Octopus, credit cards, FPS and PayMe are widely accepted, though smaller places may take cash only. Dim sum restaurants usually charge a per-person tea fee, and dishes are priced by size; weekend mornings from about 10:00 to lunchtime are the busiest, and many places give out queue tickets. Book wedding and birthday banquets months ahead.

Opening hours: daily, 11:30–23:30. It opens every day of the week. Many small businesses close for a few days around Lunar New Year and may shut early or not open during typhoons and black rainstorms, so check the latest news before you set off. Phone: 2890 2968. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first. Its website is manschiuchow.com, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.

It has a Google rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 72 reviews, a strong score that points to consistently positive experiences.

Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays.

prices are on the steep side. The restaurant seems newly opened, located on the second floor of a building and accessible by elevator. The fried taro duck was really good. Portion for the fried mee sua was a little small. Nice taste for the spicy stir fried chicken but HKD228 for a small portion is too much. Lastly, we enjoyed the soup recommended by the server - cabbage with fishball. Random charges such as the small cup of tea (not even 30ml) and also the side dishes. Typical of Chinese restaurants. A bit of hard selling on the fresh fish (HKD1200) but we didn’t feel like having and declined the offer.

We visited twice in a row with my partner—absolutely worth it. The language barrier can be challenging, so come with a translator (a few staff can help in English, but it’s mostly Mandarin-speaking). Everything we ordered was clearly made with high-quality ingredients and prepared really well. Highly recommend the stir-fried rice with crab, the pork-and-shrimp dumplings, shrimp dim sum, and the crispy duck. Don’t skip the Ying Yang dessert: two chewy, not too sweet balls filled with lotus seeds and red bean paste perfectly balanced.

The other branch from its original shop at Sheung Wan. Still able to keep the quality

Newly opened in mid-November, Man's Chiuchow Cuisine is a new beginning of the famous Sheung Hing Chiu Chow Restaurant, which was recently closed after the passing of the centurion owner. While the elder son continues his journey with the old staff, Man, the younger son, decides to start a new chapter with a completely new team. Hidden on the second floor of an unnoticeable building in the Wanchai area, this new Chinese restaurant is bright and clean. The private rooms are especially spacious and comfortable. Servers might be on the green side, but they are very welcoming and accommodating. The traditional Chiu Chow dishes are reasonably priced and of good quality. Highly recommend the fresh and succulent Steamed Red Flower Crab with Egg White & Shaoxing Huadiao Wine (HK$1,820), the bouncy Classic Marinated Sliced Cuttlefish (HK$180), the crunchy Pan-Fried Crispy Noodles served with Sugar & Black Vinegar (HK$138), and the juicy Classic Marinated Goose Slices (HK$220), even the tofu is silk-smooth!
