About KYOTO JOE

FUMI JOE is a refined Izakaya where FUMI’s culinary artistry meets Kyoto Joe’s soulful comfort, set against Hong Kong’s breathtaking skyline. Blending precision with warmth, the menu balances sophisticated techniques and shareable classics. With floor-to-ceiling windows and attentive service, it’s the perfect spot in Lan Kwai Fong for after-work drinks, lively gatherings, or special celebrations.

KYOTO JOE is listed under Japanese & Korean in Central, Central and Western. The address is 23/F California Tower, 30-36 D'Aguilar St, Central, Hong Kong Island. Below you will find what people usually look up before a visit: the exact location, contact details, opening hours and the Google rating. The address puts it on an upper floor of a building (an "upstairs shop", very common in Hong Kong), so note the floor and unit number; lifts can be slow at busy times, and some older buildings only have stairs.

When choosing a restaurant, check whether the menu shows prices and the service charge, whether you need to book, and whether there are vegetarian or children's options. Restaurants must hold a licence from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, usually displayed inside. Lunar New Year, Mother's Day, Christmas and New Year's Eve are peak booking times, and some restaurants offer set menus or add a surcharge on festive days, so ask ahead.

Google lists the opening hours as Mon–Fri 11:30–15:00 and 18:00–23:00, Sat–Sun 12:00–15:00 and 18:00–23:00. It is open seven days a week. Lunch and dinner are served in separate sessions with a break in between. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. You can call 2804 6800; a phone call is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or how to get there. More information is on its website, lkfconcepts.com.

Customers give it an average of 4.3 out of 5 on Google (469 reviews), a high score by any measure.

Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays.

Fumi Joe’s weekend lunch set proved to be a delightful culinary journey, with the Izakaya Set priced at HK$398 offering both variety and refinement. The appetizers set the tone, especially the spicy toro tartare with snow crab and the delicate soy milk skin paired with sea urchin broth, which were truly memorable. Skewers followed, with four pieces each, where the tender abalone and the A4 Kumamoto sirloin stood out for their flavor and texture. The mains continued the indulgence, with the toro don delivering elegant simplicity and the A4 wagyu beef udon offering rich comfort. Finished with sesame ice cream, the meal felt complete and satisfying.

I went there twice over 10 days, that revisit speaks volume... 1. The staff are humble and attentive 2. The food is fresh and right to taste, I asked for reduced salt for my fish collar and it was done to perfection. The fish collar has a well balanced flesh and fat, so you know they are appropriately selected 3. The price, portion, quality, location is well worth

From the moment the outdoor glass elevator lifted us to the 27th floor, with the view of Central becoming more breathtaking with each second, we knew we were in for something special — and Fumi Joe did not disappoint. The restaurant delivers top-tier Japanese cuisine in a stylish, welcoming, and authentic setting. The sashimi was unbelievably fresh, and the menu offers an excellent balance of traditional dishes and creative, modern takes. Every plate was beautifully presented, and each bite was a delight. The service was warm, attentive, and friendly, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. The décor blends modern elegance with Japanese authenticity, and the panoramic view of Central is the perfect finishing touch.
