Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Central is Hong Kong's financial and business heart; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links the streets up the hill, Lan Kwai Fong and SoHo come alive at night, and the Central piers serve the Outlying Islands.

A sheer disappointment. This establishment has been around for years... and you'd expect the quality of food to be decent. It wasn't. Carelessly made rolls and sloppy dishes. Our beef dish was soaked in sauce and looked like a serious after thought by a chef in a rush. Service was good though. But prices are way over what its worth! The interior is worn, old and in need of an upgrade. Not going to come back again, for sure. There are so many other places around where you can get better food for better value. This place should just transition to a bar with bar food.

The food was fresh and nicely prepared. The environment was quite small and the seats were slightly cramped.

Absolutely loved Tokyo Joe. Definitely book ahead as it gets busy. I had the tasting menu and every course was amazing — beautifully presented, incredibly fresh, and packed with flavour. The whole experience felt almost meditative, with each dish bringing something unexpected and memorable. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Hong Kong. Can’t wait to come back!

Tried Tokio Joe after hearing so much about it. The sashimi platter was fresh but nothing spectacular, tuna tartare was decent, and the tempura started crispy but got oily quickly. Service was fine but a little slow. Overall a good meal, just not quite worth the price and hype compared to other Japanese spots in Central.
