Many Hong Kong restaurants add a 10% service charge to the bill, and tipping beyond that is optional. Popular places fill up at lunchtime and on weekend evenings, so book by phone, WhatsApp or a platform such as OpenRice; some set a time limit or a minimum spend. Most offer both dine-in and takeaway, and Octopus, credit cards, FPS and PayMe are widely accepted, though smaller places may take cash only. Dim sum restaurants usually charge a per-person tea fee, and dishes are priced by size; weekend mornings from about 10:00 to lunchtime are the busiest, and many places give out queue tickets. Book wedding and birthday banquets months ahead.
Opening hours: Mon–Sat 11:00–21:30, Sun closed. It is open 6 days a week. Many small businesses close for a few days around Lunar New Year and may shut early or not open during typhoons and black rainstorms, so check the latest news before you set off. Phone: 2865 2827. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first.
It has a Google rating of 3.9 out of 5 from 376 reviews. Opinions are mixed but broadly steady, and the latest reviews are the best guide to what to expect.
Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The island is steep, with many streets climbing the hillside; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and the Peak Tram runs up to The Peak. Offices, malls and old neighbourhood shops sit side by side, restaurants are packed at the office lunch hour (roughly 13:00–14:00), and with parking scarce the MTR, tram or bus is usually easier than driving. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

The beef stew noodles and the wonton were sooooo good. Highly recommended. The owner was attentive and sat us in the back and turned on the AC for us. Honestly, the best beef stew noodles I've had in my visits to Hong Kong.

Although they forgot the 蜆介 sauce, still love their fish ball.

Traditional congee shop!, they have been around for ages. Good option for the cold weather or when you aren’t feeling well. Big bowl of congee with just enough toppings. I normally choose meat balls and fresh sliced beef. It is hot and hearty. The congee is thick in a good way. $54 for 2 toppings. They have wonton noodles too which I haven’t tried.

Interesting congee hotpot where you cook your food in boiling congee instead of a traditional broth. The chicken was very tender and good but the beef slices were a little tough. Fish slices had small bones and not good for those who find it hard to remove fish bones. Better option would be the fish belly where the bones are bigger and easier to locate and remove. At the end of boiling all the meats, the congee had a very good taste. The restaurant is small and very tight in space.

Good place to enjoy some traditional HK dishes. Recommend the porridge and carp fish balls. The fish skin cold fish is also good. Will come back for more.
