About Tommy Yummy
Tommy Yummy Thai Cafe
Tommy Yummy is an Asian restaurant in Central, Central and Western, at 香港島中環威靈頓街98號翡翠中心1樓. Locals and visitors alike tend to check the same things before going, so this page brings together the practical details: where it is, how to get in touch, when it is open and how customers rate it. This is an upstairs shop: the way in is usually through the building lobby rather than from the street, so check the building name, floor and unit before you go and allow a few minutes for the lift.
Many Hong Kong restaurants add a 10% service charge to the bill, and tipping beyond that is optional. Popular places fill up at lunchtime and on weekend evenings, so book by phone, WhatsApp or a platform such as OpenRice; some set a time limit or a minimum spend. Most offer both dine-in and takeaway, and Octopus, credit cards, FPS and PayMe are widely accepted, though smaller places may take cash only.
Google lists the opening hours as daily, 11:30–22:00. It opens every day of the week. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. You can call 2323 1778; a phone call is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or how to get there. Its website is instagram.com, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.
At 3.5 out of 5 on Google (219 reviews), it sits mid-table; the written reviews say more about service, prices and waiting times than the number does.
Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays.

I am writing to formally complain about the extremely unsatisfactory service I experienced at your restaurant. I merely requested a takeaway box and politely asked if it could be sealed. The female staff member responded with a very unpleasant attitude, pulling a long face and rudely questioning what I was going to put in the box. Her hostile demeanour made me feel really uncomfortable. While I was queuing up to pay, the lady ahead of me also complained about the poor service. She stated that customers deserved proper service given that a service charge was added to the bill. Nevertheless, the staff member completely ignored her comments, just nodding without any genuine reply or acknowledgement. In addition, I was overcharged when settling my bill. My actual total was HK$264, yet the cashier calculated the amount as HK$270. I was in a rush to use the restroom and failed to check my change carefully at the time. After leaving, I realised the cashier refused to give me the correct paper change, arbitrarily rounding up the payment without informing me beforehand just because there was no loose change available. I am deeply disappointed by the unprofessional and rude service, as w

I had been looking at this place for a couple of days and finally decided to give it a try. The flavors were great, with just the right amount of spice! The QR code ordering system was a bit difficult to navigate, but one of the staff members helped me place my order. The service was friendly, the food was good, and the prices were reasonable for what I got. I'd definitely come back to try something else.

Finally got to eat Thai chicken fried rice, excellent food. They were kind enough to make some Malaysian cili padi as a one off request (Thank you very much team) Mango sticky rice is must try.

Restaurant was really tasty, great fried rice, green curry, ginger tea and mango drink. In my opinion deserves higher rating than it has for the food, decor and vibe the restaurant has. Ps we poked the egg didnt come out like that🤣

We ordered the set for 2 meal, with appetizers, mains and drinks. Appetizers are good, not identical to original Thai papaya salad but it was descent and we love it. Same with the chicken skewers which tasted good specially the sauce. Then we had the thai basil minced pork with fried eggs and rice as one of the main. Thought it was good as it shown in the picture but unfortunately not even close and comparable to the taste from hole in the wall thai eateries in HK. The main food seems not freshly cook and was prepared earlier then heated when served. We also ordered grilled chicken and the quality of the chicken was not good and we just asked to take it away. We were not sure if all their food are in similar taste and state specially for mains but hoping its not the case. The Staffs seem very attentive except from one guy that seems not happy to serve. The restaurant as a whole has a good set up and interiors except from the mens toilet that needed some deep cleaning specially the mens urinal (its very disgusting and were not sure how this very obvious issue could not be fix by 6 staffs or their management). I hope their kitchen is clean as well.
