About Mama Tiger Noodles

Thai Noodles

Mama Tiger Noodles, an Asian restaurant in Central, Central and Western, is at 香港島中環九如坊12號. Before heading over it is worth checking the hours, phone number and Google rating below, so the trip is not wasted.

Many Hong Kong restaurants add a 10% service charge to the bill, and tipping beyond that is optional. Popular places fill up at lunchtime and on weekend evenings, so book by phone, WhatsApp or a platform such as OpenRice; some set a time limit or a minimum spend. Most offer both dine-in and takeaway, and Octopus, credit cards, FPS and PayMe are widely accepted, though smaller places may take cash only. Spice levels at Thai, Vietnamese and other Asian restaurants can usually be adjusted, so say so when ordering.

Google lists the opening hours as Mon closed, Tue–Fri 12:00–14:30 and 18:00–22:00, Sat–Sun 12:00–15:00 and 18:00–22:00. That makes 6 working days a week. There is a break between the lunch and dinner sessions. It opens on Sunday too, like most places to eat in Hong Kong. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. No phone number is listed, so the Google Maps link on this page is the best starting point for directions and any contact details Google has. More information is on its website, mamatigernoodles.com.

Customers give it an average of 4.6 out of 5 on Google (314 reviews), a high score by any measure.

Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays.

The food was great and the service was very attentive. Suki glass noodles was like a comfort food. We loved the Boat noodles, it has such a rich soupbase. The papaya salad was very refreshing, although a little small. The wontons were amazing, esp the seafood ones coz of their refreshingly zesty sauce. Big applause to the milktea softserve!!

Mama Tiger has really stepped it up. It used to be more focused on noodles, but now it feels like a proper Thai street food spot—there’s more variety, and the flavours feel more confident. One item I’m glad is still here is the 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻. The wonton skins were crispy and the sour dressing with seafood was super refreshing and easy to enjoy. I also tried a few skewers—minced pork, minced lamb, mushroom & okra, and chicken thigh. The chicken was my favourite; it had that smoky charcoal aroma, and the sweet pickles on the side were genuinely addictive. Big highlight for me was 𝗗𝘂𝗰𝗸 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝘁𝗼𝗸—spicy, herb-y, and the duck was surprisingly tender. For mains, I had stir-fried rice noodle and duck leg green curry. Ending with the returning classic 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗕𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝗲 was a nice, smooth finish.

This Thai-inspired restaurant is a cozy spot but with tables very close together, fitting the limited space in Hong Kong. The menu is decent, featuring a well-written Thai language menu. While the papaya salad isn’t exactly som tum, it’s still a nice and satisfying dish. The suki sauce is generous, with a large portion of squid and a big prawn. They also provide condiments for seasoning, just like in Thailand. The fried noodle is okay, with chicken skin and a decent taste. Paying is easy, with QR scan at the table and online options. The service is friendly and attentive. Overall, dining in Hong Kong means small, elbow-to-elbow restaurants. This place offers decent Thai-inspired food that’s not quite authentic but still delicious food. Worth to visit for some south east asian food when in HK

I like this place, not only do beef or chicken noodle, they also have seafood version, yeah I came twice in a week! I tried their ‘thai suki’ noodle with fish, shrimp and vegetables, taste very good, the soup won’t make you feel thirsty after. Seafood dumplings - can choose fried or steam. Husband said pork meat ball with red curry is the best meat ball he had.
