Many Hong Kong restaurants add a 10% service charge to the bill, and tipping beyond that is optional. Popular places fill up at lunchtime and on weekend evenings, so book by phone, WhatsApp or a platform such as OpenRice; some set a time limit or a minimum spend. Most offer both dine-in and takeaway, and Octopus, credit cards, FPS and PayMe are widely accepted, though smaller places may take cash only. Dim sum restaurants usually charge a per-person tea fee, and dishes are priced by size; weekend mornings from about 10:00 to lunchtime are the busiest, and many places give out queue tickets. Book wedding and birthday banquets months ahead.
Google lists the opening hours as daily, 06:30–23:30. It opens every day of the week. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. Phone: 5662 8911. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first. It is a mobile number, and many local businesses also answer enquiries on WhatsApp.
It has a Google rating of 3.7 out of 5 from 243 reviews. Opinions are mixed but broadly steady, and the latest reviews are the best guide to what to expect.
Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The island is steep, with many streets climbing the hillside; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and the Peak Tram runs up to The Peak. Offices, malls and old neighbourhood shops sit side by side, restaurants are packed at the office lunch hour (roughly 13:00–14:00), and with parking scarce the MTR, tram or bus is usually easier than driving. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

Stopped by for a quick roast meat meal and was pleasantly surprised. Service was prompt, food arrived quickly, and everything was served fresh and hot. My top choice here has to be the suckling pig paired with roasted goose. The suckling pig had beautifully crispy skin with a good balance of fat and meat, while the roasted goose was juicy, flavourful and packed with that rich roasted aroma Hong Kong is famous for. The portion was generous and went perfectly with a cup of classic Hong Kong milk tea. Sometimes you don’t need a fancy restaurant, just crispy skin, good meat and a bowl of rice that quietly does its job. What I liked most is that the prices are about the same as many of the famous roast meat shops nearby, but without the crazy queue. The restaurant directly opposite had a very long line, while I was comfortably seated and enjoying my meal within minutes. If you’re looking for quality roast goose and suckling pig without spending half your holiday standing in line, this place is definitely worth considering. Great food, reasonable prices, fast service and no unnecessary waiting

Excellent and great value. The goose is not tough at all, all very fresh, vegetables excellent too. Extremely clean.

We went here in the afternoon on a weekday without any queue, we saw the afternoon set menu and ordered Ordered roast goose on top of white rice in a small bowl but the portion of rice was plenty and just add a few dollars to include a drink of choice. Goose served this time of visit was relatively not that meaty but the taste and crisp is still there. Portion served to me had a lot of bones

Our group of 10 walked into Hay Hay Roast at about 7:40pm for dinner. Our orders were Roast Goose, Char Siew, Sweet and Sour Pork and Garlic Kailan. The Char Siew was tender, we would prefer it to be more “charred”. Was disappointed with the Roast Goose. We felt their preparation time prior roasting was insufficient as the goose was not tenderized and the goose skin was not crispy at all. Overall, the goose meat was “tough”. The Sweet & Sour Pork was a disaster really. We felt their preparation wrong part of the pork was used. The entire servicing was difficult to chew. The flavor was too sour. The Kailan was not well prepared. It was a little bitter, which probably meant that the vegetable wasn’t cleaned thoroughly prior to cooking. Service was pretty good though. All the staff were obliging to our requests. The cleanliness of the area towards their toilets were messy and wet/slippery. Need to walk carefully.
