About Yohaku-余白
Yohaku-余白, a Japanese or Korean restaurant in Kwun Tong, is at 九龍觀塘興業街19號明生工業大廈8樓. Before heading over it is worth checking the hours, phone number and Google rating below, so the trip is not wasted. The address puts it on an upper floor of a building (an "upstairs shop", very common in Hong Kong), so note the floor and unit number; lifts can be slow at busy times, and some older buildings only have stairs.
When choosing a restaurant, check whether the menu shows prices and the service charge, whether you need to book, and whether there are vegetarian or children's options. Restaurants must hold a licence from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, usually displayed inside. Lunar New Year, Mother's Day, Christmas and New Year's Eve are peak booking times, and some restaurants offer set menus or add a surcharge on festive days, so ask ahead. Popular Japanese and Korean restaurants often take online bookings or queue tickets, and omakase counters usually ask for a deposit.
Google lists the opening hours as daily, 12:00–15:30 and 18:30–22:30. It is open seven days a week. Lunch and dinner are served in separate sessions with a break in between. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. You can call 3565 1315; a phone call is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or how to get there. Its website is instagram.com, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.
It has a Google rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 169 reviews, a strong score that points to consistently positive experiences.
Kwun Tong is part of the Kwun Tong District in Kowloon. Kowloon is densely packed: Nathan Road runs north from Tsim Sha Tsui towards Prince Edward, lined along with its side streets by shops, restaurants and upstairs businesses, and most places are a few minutes' walk from an MTR station. Mong Kok's street markets, Sham Shui Po's electronics and fabric streets and Kowloon City's Thai restaurants are familiar landmarks for shopping and eating.

This is a hidden Japanese restaurant in Kwun Tong. It was recommended by a colleague. We went there for lunch. Reservations are recommended, as seating is limited. The restaurant is spacious, with generously spaced seating that allows for privacy. The lunch set was excellent and delicious.

Had a wonderful meal at Yuhaku (余白) today. The minimalist and calm atmosphere makes it a perfect escape from the busy streets of Kwun Tong. • The Main: The Steak Set was excellent. The beef was cooked to a perfect medium-rare—incredibly tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. It came as a complete set with flavorful furikake rice, a fresh salad, and steamed egg. Every component was thoughtfully prepared. • The Dessert: The Earl Grey Caramel Pudding is a must-try. It has a silky-smooth texture and a sophisticated tea aroma, beautifully garnished with cream and dried rose petals.

Yohaku is a hidden Japanese-style industrial restaurant in Kwun Tong, featuring a minimalist white‑brown‑black design with wooden elements that creates a calm and cozy atmosphere. Their 10‑course dinner menu at $498 offers excellent value, with premium ingredients and well‑balanced flavors. Highlights include the refreshing salad, creamy Hyogo oysters, wagyu tartare toast, rich chawanmushi, thick wagyu katsu sando, and flavorful kombu‑marinated beef tongue. The oilfish is fresh, the sukiyaki wagyu is tender and aromatic, and the desserts end the meal beautifully. Service is attentive, with staff introducing each dish and pacing the courses perfectly. Overall, it’s a polished dining experience with impressive quality for the price—highly recommended.

During our Winter Solstice and Husband Wife Christmas dinner, we spent one evening having dinner in this new Japanese restaurant in this hidden gem - an industrial building in Kwun Tong. And we didn't stress about what to pick since there's the tasting menu. As long as I reminded the staff that I don't eat beef, they were happy to make some little changes on the dishes while my husband could enjoy the beef on the tasting menu (they swapped the Wagyu sandwich for this super juicy Eel version for me, while my husband enjoyed his beef). The highlight of my most loved: The Chawanmushi with salmon roe—the texture is so unique and soupy. The Sukiyaki is a whole ritual—cooked tableside by the staff. We finished with Earl Grey pudding and ice cream. Definitely coming back just for their Hojicha Latte
