Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Central is Hong Kong's financial and business heart; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links the streets up the hill, Lan Kwai Fong and SoHo come alive at night, and the Central piers serve the Outlying Islands.

One of the most iconic landmark in HK. The pedestrian overpass next to it is a great place for photography.

My dad Jimmy Penketh did the girders for this in Redpath Dorman Long,Warrington 1970's he wrote our names on the last one. He'd love that my sister and me came to see the finished bank.

Iconic building. Hard to miss once you exit and onto the streets. Architecture at its finest. Stands tallest in the skyline and hard to miss when driving by. Bank of China tower!

A stunning and iconic skyscraper in the heart of the business district on Hong Kong island. Magnificent by day and spectacular at night when illuminated. This building was a constant landmark for me whilst navigating my way around the Hong Kong streets. A thing of beauty.

Completed in 1990, and designed by the visionary I. M. Pei, this isn’t just a tower; it’s a monumental symbol. Its revolutionary geometric structure, defined by intersecting triangular trusses, mimics the growth of bamboo, signifying resilience, prosperity, and continuous growth. It’s breathtaking to think that this stunning aesthetic is also the secret to its strength, engineered to withstand Hong Kong’s powerful typhoons. It stands tall, glowing against the night sky, a perfect fusion of modern genius and ancient Chinese symbolism #中銀大廈 #HongKong
