Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Central is Hong Kong's financial and business heart; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links the streets up the hill, Lan Kwai Fong and SoHo come alive at night, and the Central piers serve the Outlying Islands.

Pricey, but you can definitely taste the quality here! There is a line, but the staff works fast and efficient! Probably some of the best egg tarts I’ve had in a long time! But I have yet to go to Portugal for the original egg tarts! Delicious quality, custard donuts, too! Would highly recommend this place if ever you are in Hong Kong!

I don’t really trust online reviews of viral foods until I try them myself, so I came with no expectations but Bakehouse is famous for a reason! It was so hard to choose because the whole bakery is filled with all kinds of pastries. The sourdough egg tart is the absolute best. I don’t usually like egg tart crust, but this one is the perfect kind of flaky and buttery. The custard is creamy without being overwhelmingly sweet. It’s definitely the most delicious egg tart I’ve ever had in my life. When I went, there was no line at all. It’s also located in Central, Hong Kong, so it’s the perfect place to stop by while strolling around the area. Sadly, I went here on my last day in Hong Kong, and I was rushing to catch my flight, so I didn’t get to go back a second time and get myself some more egg tarts 😮💨

Bakehouse in Central Hong Kong is one of the most popular bakeries in the city, known for its long queues and high-quality pastries. The sourdough croissants are the standout—crispy on the outside, buttery and soft inside, with a rich flavor that keeps people coming back. Their famous egg tarts also deserve attention, with a slightly burnt top and creamy filling that gives a modern twist to a classic Hong Kong treat. The atmosphere is simple and busy, reflecting its popularity, but the overall experience feels worth it for the freshness and craftsmanship of the baked goods.

As a tourist, everyone kept telling us Bakehouse was a must-try spot in Hong Kong, and honestly, it did not disappoint at all. The egg tart was easily the highlight, crispy and flaky on the outside, creamy and balanced on the inside without being overly sweet. Probably one of the best we’ve had. The strawberry cheese danish was delicious as well, buttery and packed with flavor. A lot of famous spots end up being all hype, but this place actually lives up to it. We’d definitely come back again.

The sourdough egg tart is definitely the best egg tart I've ever had. The pastry is crispy and flaky and the filling is not too sweet. Definitely worth coming to try the egg tart! I also had a salted egg yolk/caramel filled bolobao and it was just ok. The bread just tasted like regular white bread and the filling mostly tasted sweet without much salted egg flavor. The line moves quickly, so don't be scared if you see people waiting outside. I had to wait around 10-15 minutes to order on a weekday mid-morning.
