Cafés, bakeries, dessert and drinks shops are often mainly takeaway with a few seats, and weekend afternoons are the busiest. Many accept Octopus, credit cards and e-wallets, and some run loyalty schemes or pre-orders; birthday cakes and festive boxes (mooncakes at Mid-Autumn, for example) usually need ordering in advance, a few days ahead on popular dates. Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Central is Hong Kong's financial and business heart; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links the streets up the hill, Lan Kwai Fong and SoHo come alive at night, and the Central piers serve the Outlying Islands.

We stumbled upon Vission Bakery after noticing a huge crowd gathered outside, so naturally we had to see what the hype was about. It quickly became clear that the most popular items were the Mochi Pistachio and the Matcha Danish, with almost everyone leaving the shop carrying one of the two. We decided to try the Matcha Danish. The staff recommended enjoying it within two hours for the best texture and flavour, which explained why several other tourists were standing just outside the bakery, eating their pastries fresh. The Matcha Danish definitely lived up to the expectations. The pastry was light, flaky, and buttery, while the chewy mochi filling added a fun contrast in texture. What stood out most was the balance of flavours—the sweetness of the mochi complemented the pleasant, slightly bitter notes of the matcha without either overpowering the other. It wasn’t overly sweet, making it easy to finish in one sitting. The bakery itself is small and takeaway-focused, so don’t be surprised if there’s a queue during peak hours. The turnover is fast, and the pastries are clearly baked fresh throughout the day. If you’re in Hong Kong and enjoy Japanese-inspired pastries, Vission Bake

Probably the best bakery that I visited in Hong Kong. They had plenty of unique and scrumptious-looking pastry variations to choose from, and from the looks alone, I wanted to try everything. 1. Matcha Mochi Danish: a bitter and thick very well-concentrated matcha on the inside and the top, with soft chewy mochi on the inside, meet the crunchy crust. Best one! 2. Chocolate Fondant Tart: thick chocolate on the inside, very balanced between the bitter and the sweet taste, very chocolaty, just bursting out with every bite. Loved it. Any chocolate lover would need to try it. 3. Pistachio Custard Danish: the pistachio custard was creamy, nutty, and tasty

I walked past Vission on Staunton Street a few times before finally deciding to try it. The portion sizes were big, which I appreciated. There was definitely enough to feel satisfied. That said, it's pricy. However, considering the Central location, I guess it's understandable. One specific item I tried was one of their best sellers: Tiramisu karpatka $95. Since I'd never had karpatka before, I wasn't sure what to expect. From my tasting, it's kind of like a bread sandwich with a creamy tiramisu filling. Since I live far away and the tiramisu karpatka didn't leave a strong enough impression for me personally, I don't know if I'll come back again to try their other cakes. If you're in the area, and don't mind the higher price, it's definitely a bakery worth trying, especially if you're curious about their signature items.

Heavenly pastries! The Matcha Mochi Danish is a must-try. I visited with a friend and we tried the Matcha Mochi Danish and the Banoffee Puff. The Matcha Mochi Danish was incredible—the matcha filling was intensely rich and authentic, which paired perfectly with the super crispy, flaky pastry. If you're a matcha fan, don't miss this one! As for the Banoffee Puff, I’m a huge banoffee lover and have tried it at many different places; I’d say this one was good and met the standard, though not as mind-blowing as the matcha. The shop has a huge variety of other treats that look amazing. This is definitely another spot I’ll be returning to on my next Hong Kong trip!

The matcha mochi danish was delicious! It was rich in flavor, not too sweet, and the mochi was chewy. Highly recommended! The queue was very long, but it moved quickly, so the wait wasn't too long. It's a shame they only accepted credit cards when I went.
