Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays.

Peking Garden in Central remains an absolute institution for a reason. Located in the basement of Alexandra House, it’s sleek, comfortable, and perfect for business lunches or family gatherings. The Peking Duck is a must-order—perfectly crispy skin, juicy meat, and they keep the wrappers warm at your table on a mini stove, which is a fantastic touch. The deep-fried sweet and sour fish and the braised prawns are also excellent. Service is fast, professional, and efficient. It leans on the pricier side and it gets incredibly busy with the corporate crowd, so definitely book a table in advance!

The food here is genuinely excellent — the Peking duck was superb, perfectly crispy skin and beautifully presented. The mapo tofu was also a standout, rich and bold in flavour. Only minor gripe — it felt a little rushed, as if they were trying to turn tables over quickly. A shame, because the food deserves to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. That said, the quality speaks for itself and I'd definitely come back for another round. Recommended!

I visited this restaurant for a business dinner after a recommendation from my cousin, and it was a truly great experience. The interior is polished and classy, capturing the feel of a high-end Chinese restaurant. From the table settings to the overall décor, every detail felt well thought out. The restaurant had a resident sommelier, who provided excellent recommendations that helped us select 2 bottles of wine for the evening. The service throughout the night was prompt and professional. As for the food, it was exquisite. The Peking Duck was the highlight of the meal. It looked so appetizing that I completely forgot to take pictures before digging in. It was truly delicious. The Beef Shin appetizer was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. The Deep-fried Eel was perfectly crispy and nicely coated in a balanced sweet sauce. Overall, it was an excellent dinner with high quality food and a sophisticated ambience. Highly recommended for business engagements or a nice family meal.

Peking Garden @ Alexandra House still impresses with its food and ambience. It had been over 10 years since I last visited, and the restaurant still has that classic, refined charm. That said, the service was surprisingly not quite what I remembered. I needed some help with dish recommendations and clarification on portion size/pricing for a soup, but the guidance given was unclear. One waitress even openly commented in Cantonese to another that I was taking a long time to order, before passing me over to someone else - which felt rather uncomfortable. Overall, the food and setting remain excellent, but I do hope the service can return to the warm and attentive standard I remembered from before.

It delivers the authentic taste of Chinese food in Beijing style. The food quality is quite good and presentation is fine in standard as well. I would like to point out the service standard is not up to the par as the servers keep urging us to leave by collecting the plates immediately when we have finished the dishes.
