About 飲茶
飲茶, a Cantonese and dim sum restaurant in Central, Central and Western, is at 2/F, Nan Fung Place Nan Fung Tower, 173 Des Voeux Rd Central, Central, Hong Kong Island. Before heading over it is worth checking the hours, phone number and Google rating below, so the trip is not wasted. The address puts it on an upper floor of a building (an "upstairs shop", very common in Hong Kong), so note the floor and unit number; lifts can be slow at busy times, and some older buildings only have stairs.
Many Hong Kong restaurants add a 10% service charge to the bill, and tipping beyond that is optional. Popular places fill up at lunchtime and on weekend evenings, so book by phone, WhatsApp or a platform such as OpenRice; some set a time limit or a minimum spend. Most offer both dine-in and takeaway, and Octopus, credit cards, FPS and PayMe are widely accepted, though smaller places may take cash only.
Google lists the opening hours as Mon–Fri 11:30–15:00 and 17:30–22:00, Sat–Sun 11:30–15:30 and 17:30–22:00. It opens every day of the week. There is a break between the lunch and dinner sessions. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. Phone: 3541 9710. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first.
At 4.1 out of 5 on Google (1,163 reviews), it sits mid-table; the written reviews say more about service, prices and waiting times than the number does.
Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays.

YumCha HK offers a fantastic variety of food with a convenient ticklist-style menu, allowing you to order as much or as little as you like. There may be a bit of a wait for tables depending on the timing of your visit and the number of food enthusiasts around, but it's worth it. The menu features a great selection of food, drinks, snacks, mains, and desserts, all of which are delicious. The whimsical style of the buns adds a fun touch to the dining experience. Pricing is reflective of Hong Kong style dining, and you are fully aware of the costs as you place your order. The ambient noise level can range from moderate to loud, but it remains manageable. Overall, YumCha HK is definitely a must-try whether you’re a local or just visiting!

A friend took us to this place. We ordered some special dishes such as the peking duck, fried tofu, and the dim sum plate which has a few different type of dim sums, each of which has a unique shape looking like the little animals. The crisp eggplant is the special menu item. Its taste is very unique.

It was a little tricky to find the place at first, as the map directions can be a bit confusing, it’s located inside the building. Once we got there, though, we found it spacious, clean, and welcoming. The food was served quickly, and every dish was delicious! We especially loved their signature custard buns, soft, gooey, and absolutely delightful. Although the restaurant closes at 3 PM, we really appreciated that the staff didn’t rush us, allowing us to enjoy our meal comfortably. Definitely planning to come back to try more dishes from the menu!
