About 大排檔小炒

大排檔小炒, a Cantonese and dim sum restaurant in Wan Chai, is at 香港島灣仔駱克道華發大廈. Before heading over it is worth checking the hours, phone number and Google rating below, so the trip is not wasted.

Many Hong Kong restaurants add a 10% service charge to the bill, and tipping beyond that is optional. Popular places fill up at lunchtime and on weekend evenings, so book by phone, WhatsApp or a platform such as OpenRice; some set a time limit or a minimum spend. Most offer both dine-in and takeaway, and Octopus, credit cards, FPS and PayMe are widely accepted, though smaller places may take cash only. Dim sum restaurants usually charge a per-person tea fee, and dishes are priced by size; weekend mornings from about 10:00 to lunchtime are the busiest, and many places give out queue tickets. Book wedding and birthday banquets months ahead.

Opening hours: daily, 12:00–14:30 and 18:00–23:00. It is open seven days a week. Lunch and dinner are served in separate sessions with a break in between. Many small businesses close for a few days around Lunar New Year and may shut early or not open during typhoons and black rainstorms, so check the latest news before you set off. Phone: 2336 6664. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first.

It has a Google rating of 4.3 out of 5 from 265 reviews, a strong score that points to consistently positive experiences.

Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The island is steep, with many streets climbing the hillside; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and the Peak Tram runs up to The Peak. Offices, malls and old neighbourhood shops sit side by side, restaurants are packed at the office lunch hour (roughly 13:00–14:00), and with parking scarce the MTR, tram or bus is usually easier than driving. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

Found a great little hidden gem in Wan Chai for lunch! Sweet and Sour Pork (拔絲咕嚕肉): Definitely get this set lunch. It’s the "pull-silk" style, meaning it's extra crispy with a sweet, crunchy coating. It comes with rice and a comforting chinese soup. Beef Chow Fun (乾炒牛河): flavorful. They use thinner rice noodles than most places, which soak up all the sauce really well. Plus, the beef is very tender and generous. Highly recommend adding $20 for a plate of fresh veg to round out the meal! Will definitely be back to try their dinner menu!

Very popular and crowded place with lots of locals on a Tuesday night. Food must be good if it's crowded with locals. Portions were huge. I only ordered fried rice & braised fish head clay pot. Too much for 1 person. I had to take away more than half.

Popular spot. They gave us 1.5 hours to eat and immediately leave. They hardsell the seafood. Crab was decent. Soy chicken was decent. The clay pot with vegetables was my favorite. Overall comfortable spot that’s a bit more upscale with fancy seafood. $50 a person USD.

One of my local friends recommended this and it's definitely not a place to miss when you're in the Causeway Bay area. Please come in numbers, otherwise you'll be finding yourself struggling to finish the food as most dishes were meant for big groups. If you're new, try the dishes listed in the chef's recommendation page. I had the Beef with Sweet Potato, the fried large intestines, lala and steamed vegetables. Ranked in that order.

Outstanding pan-fried (鍋氣) preparations. The uses of sauces, spices, and different ingredients are very well balanced to provide excellent presentation, aroma, and taste. There are some unique dishes that are not offered anywhere else and are surprisingly good. These dishes are posted on the wall but only in Chinese. Highly recommend trying them. Most of the waiters can manage basic English, so English-speaking customers should have no problem ordering and enjoying their best dishes. The price is very reasonable given the quality of the food and the outstanding preparation techniques. Best is to go with friends and families so you can order more dishes to share and try. If your visit to Hong Kong is short and you need to pick and choose only a few restaurants, then this one should be high on your list to get a taste of outstanding and authentic Hong Kong food.
