About 金陵會潮宮

金陵會潮宮, a Cantonese and dim sum restaurant in Wan Chai, is at 香港島灣仔灣仔道109號壹嘉1至2樓. Before heading over it is worth checking the hours, phone number and Google rating below, so the trip is not wasted. The address puts it on an upper floor of a building (an "upstairs shop", very common in Hong Kong), so note the floor and unit number; lifts can be slow at busy times, and some older buildings only have stairs.

Many Hong Kong restaurants add a 10% service charge to the bill, and tipping beyond that is optional. Popular places fill up at lunchtime and on weekend evenings, so book by phone, WhatsApp or a platform such as OpenRice; some set a time limit or a minimum spend. Most offer both dine-in and takeaway, and Octopus, credit cards, FPS and PayMe are widely accepted, though smaller places may take cash only. Dim sum restaurants usually charge a per-person tea fee, and dishes are priced by size; weekend mornings from about 10:00 to lunchtime are the busiest, and many places give out queue tickets. Book wedding and birthday banquets months ahead.

Opening hours: daily, 11:30–15:00 and 17:30–23:00. It is open seven days a week. There is a break between the lunch and dinner sessions. Many small businesses close for a few days around Lunar New Year and may shut early or not open during typhoons and black rainstorms, so check the latest news before you set off. Phone: 2885 0999. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first.

It has a Google rating of 4.3 out of 5 from 34 reviews, a strong score that points to consistently positive experiences.

Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays.

Jinling Hui Chao Palace is a spacious restaurant in Wanchai which specializes in Chiu Chow cuisine. The main dining room on the first floor can accommodate up to 80 people. In addition to the privacy, the VIP rooms on the second floor all have their own washrooms and Karaoke system; great place to host a party. The armchairs are especially comfortable. Although a bit understaffed, the manager follows up closely with everything that goes on in the room, including the proper way to serve the boiling Braised Shark’s Fin (HK$580/person) and operation of the karaoke system. However, food quality is a bit inconsistent and with much space for improvement. While the Chilled abalone with Chili is refreshing, the Egg White with Bird’s Nest and Black Truffle is tasteless, and the Marinated Five Years Old Goose Head is salty and chewy. Highly recommend the flavorful Steamed Chicken with Ginger and Scallions and the simple Pan Fried Noodle Served with Sugar and Vinegar.
