Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

Local restaurants which serve authentic Cantonese food such as bbq goose, bbq pork, stir fry and clay pot dishes. Food is good with generous portion, and it’s BYO free, so it’s good for friend and family gathering.

It is difficult to find such a traditional Chinese restaurant nowadays with such high quality food. I rarely write reviews but Sing Kee has completely exceeded my expectations with their delicious fresh food. Their portions are massive, so you definitely get your money’s worth! I have tasted their dim sum dishes for lunch, and I have also been for dinner with some friends. I highly recommend their seafood - so fresh and the meat is super tender. I am still drooling over the lobster with cheese sauce and egg noodles (yi mein), and the 琵琶蝦. I actually got quite lucky that they had 琵琶蝦, as I heard they’re really rare. Their dim sum is also quite tasty, you even get free tong sui afterwards!!! Staff quite friendly too - I have seen them interacting with many customers, who seem to be regulars. I will definitely be returning to try other dishes!

This is for sure one of our favorite meal while in HK. More local than other ones and we're here for it! The staff are nice and welcoming. Post pandemic, restaurants are struggling to bring back customers and I hope HK’ers will show up and help the local businesses thrive again! After 2 nights of fancy Cantonese meals, glad to eat at a more local Chinese restaurant. Price difference is by like $1500 HKD! lol While it's not as glitzy looking, it's more homey and we see regulars conversing with the staff. We got quite a few standard goodies - eggplant claypot in garlic sauce, steamed fresh fish (pricey fish at $115) Delish! House special stir fry, fresh prawns with scrambled eggs and garlic Chinese kale. Everything was delicious and fits our craving! Price of dinner - $1710 HKD ($219 USD). Won’t break the bank!
