VOL.1 CAFE, a restaurant in Causeway Bay, Wan Chai, is at 2/F, 3 Cannon St, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong Island. Before heading over it is worth checking the hours, phone number and Google rating below, so the trip is not wasted. The address puts it on an upper floor of a building (an "upstairs shop", very common in Hong Kong), so note the floor and unit number; lifts can be slow at busy times, and some older buildings only have stairs.

Many Hong Kong restaurants add a 10% service charge to the bill, and tipping beyond that is optional. Popular places fill up at lunchtime and on weekend evenings, so book by phone, WhatsApp or a platform such as OpenRice; some set a time limit or a minimum spend. Most offer both dine-in and takeaway, and Octopus, credit cards, FPS and PayMe are widely accepted, though smaller places may take cash only. For birthdays or office dinners, ask about private rooms, corkage and cake-cutting fees in advance.

Opening hours: daily, 12:30–16:30 and 18:30–21:30. It is open seven days a week. There is a break between the lunch and dinner sessions. Many small businesses close for a few days around Lunar New Year and may shut early or not open during typhoons and black rainstorms, so check the latest news before you set off. Phone: 9748 2308. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first. As this is a mobile number, a WhatsApp message may also work. Its website is instagram.com, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.

Customers give it an average of 4.3 out of 5 on Google (172 reviews), a high score by any measure.

Causeway Bay is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The island is steep, with many streets climbing the hillside; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and the Peak Tram runs up to The Peak. Offices, malls and old neighbourhood shops sit side by side, restaurants are packed at the office lunch hour (roughly 13:00–14:00), and with parking scarce the MTR, tram or bus is usually easier than driving. Causeway Bay is packed with malls and department stores and is very crowded at weekends; nearby Victoria Park hosts the Lunar New Year fair.

Pasta was surprisingly good, very flavourful and fresh. Definitely exceed my expectation for a cafe. Fries were ok. I had a lychee drink, it was quite good, not too sweet. I went on a Monday night and it was quite busy.

This Vol.1 Cafe is seriously a hidden gem! The environment is super cozy and artsy, making you want to relax and take your time. I ordered a few dishes that really hit the spot, and overall, I was very satisfied—especially with their handmade pasta and desserts, which were truly impressive. First up, their homemade lobster-infused crab meat was rich in flavor without feeling greasy at all, leaving me craving for more. Then there was the charred white truffle chicken wings—golden, crispy on the outside and tender inside, with a delightful aroma. The handmade Cacio e Pepe pasta had a nice chewy texture, and the sauce was hearty yet light, making each bite so satisfying. I also enjoyed a refreshing lemonade with honey and lime—perfectly tart and sweet, super thirst-quenching. For dessert, the matcha Basque cheesecake was absolutely amazing—intense matcha flavor without any bitterness, just the right amount of sweetness. It paired perfectly with a cup of milk tea, making for a lovely combo. Overall, the dishes not only taste fantastic but are also beautifully plated, showing the chef’s attention to detail. It’s a perfect place to unwind and indulge in some quality food. Highly recom

It’s carbonara is special in the sense that the bacon 🥓 they use are not the thin slices but in cube that you can really taste the thickness and pork belly. I also love their grilled chicken wings, which take longer time 15 minutes to cook but it’s worth waiting. It’s really the best or at least one of the bests that I have had in HK. The browning surface with herbs and white truffle sauce, the smell was very enticing to yr appetite. Another snack we ordered was their deep fried sweet potato chips 🍟 🍠 the portion is quite bad that it can serve 3 to 4 people. It comes along with ketchup and sour cream sauce.

Dinner at Vol 1 Cafe! Never realised this hidden gem in causeway bay! its a walk up building at 2nd floor, and it has a beautiful scenery of causrway bay. We ordered two mains, salad, and a drink. We had the earl grey milk tea, which has very rich tea flavor but balanced with milk, its like a premium milk tea, and not to sweet too! perfectly balanced flavor. We then had the salad with chicken breast and truffle sauce! the truffle is very and really tasty, combined with the tender chicken breast and veggie makes a good starter combination. We then move on to our mains, which are handmade pasta! We had the Crab meat lobster sauce carbonara, which has a nicely think and umami flavor of the lobster sauce, along with the nice savory flavor from the crab meat, and not to forget, the nice flavor and texture from the handmade pasta. We also had the meatball and cream cheese pasta, which is also really tasty! the meatball have a balanced and flavorful taste, which is served really well with the cream cheese sauce and pasta together, makes for a nice dinner combo!

There aren’t many cafes in Causeway Bay serving handmade pasta honestly. This cafe serves phenomenal and affordable pasta. The bigoli is perfectly cooked and very chewy. It fully absorbs the thick and creamy carbonara sauce. The sauce is pretty authentic with egg yolk, part, pancetta and guanciale. Despite the outstanding pasta, the sides and desserts are rather disappointing. The nacho chips are fair enough with generous amount of gua. The purple onion pieces are too big so it is very spicy. I do like the chucks of salmon in the gua though. The Basque cake is the most disappointing one. The milk cap is silky smooth and milky but the cake is terrible. The mochi is too mucous and the matcha tea flavour is too weak. There isn’t burnt caramel flavour or cream cheese flavour. I would like to revisit for the handmade pasta and the risotto as my colleagues also recommend the mains here. Just remember to book a table via WhatsApp.
