About 喜萬年酒樓
老饗情融五十年
喜萬年酒樓 is a Cantonese and dim sum restaurant in Wan Chai, at 香港島灣仔軒尼詩道288號. Locals and visitors alike tend to check the same things before going, so this page brings together the practical details: where it is, how to get in touch, when it is open and how customers rate it.
When choosing a restaurant, check whether the menu shows prices and the service charge, whether you need to book, and whether there are vegetarian or children's options. Restaurants must hold a licence from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, usually displayed inside. Lunar New Year, Mother's Day, Christmas and New Year's Eve are peak booking times, and some restaurants offer set menus or add a surcharge on festive days, so ask ahead. Dim sum restaurants usually charge a per-person tea fee, and dishes are priced by size; weekend mornings from about 10:00 to lunchtime are the busiest, and many places give out queue tickets. Book wedding and birthday banquets months ahead.
Google lists the opening hours as Mon–Fri 11:00–23:00, Sat–Sun 10:00–23:00. It is open seven days a week. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. You can call 2528 2121; a phone call is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or how to get there. Its website is facebook.com, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.
At 3.8 out of 5 on Google (556 reviews), it sits mid-table; the written reviews say more about service, prices and waiting times than the number does.
Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The island is steep, with many streets climbing the hillside; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and the Peak Tram runs up to The Peak. Offices, malls and old neighbourhood shops sit side by side, restaurants are packed at the office lunch hour (roughly 13:00–14:00), and with parking scarce the MTR, tram or bus is usually easier than driving.

This long established Cantonese restaurant was operating in the basement. There were some separated rooms along the corridor in the mall. Number of staff was adequate. Although we were sitting in one of the rooms beside the main hall, the waitress always come to serve us. The quality of food was fine but not so special. The dessert was just kept at room temperature. The choice of dim sum was quite limited.

The cold braised pig fallopian tubes are stellar. They stunned me, super crunchy super chewy and the mild braising sauce worked to perfection. Perhaps just as impressive is how their fried peanuts, in the sauce, is still full of great smokiness. Dimsum otherwise was ok Har gow filling was too loose and not impactful. Skin was very sticky and soft Cheongfun were too thick, not enough ingredients. Malai cake wasn't traditional, this one has too much roasted aroma, tastes more like some standard baked cake than steamed Ckn claw was standard Steamed beef balls had too much flour, too bulked up and too soft The egg yolk char siew tho, tastes abit Japanese apart from the egg yolk. Very overpriced for the quality, it's not particularly good, quite one dimensional in saltiness

This place is well known for their barbecue suckling pig and whole chicken. First time trying out their dimsum and it was a good surprise! The dimsum sizes are big and well made. Deep fried shrimp spring roll wrapped in rice noodle and sweet egg twists were my favourite. In terms of service, staffs are attentive and friendly, compared to other Hong Kong local dimsum restaurants. Its price range is very reasonable, especially you will get 15% off if you pay your bill before 12.30pm on weekend!

Had a banquet style dinner here for grandma’s birthday celebration. Everything on the menu was designed to her liking and was with tradition birthday meanings. All dishes were cooked to perfection and portions were very generous. Deep fried and roast dishes were crispy and nicely seasoned. The rice and the noodles were slightly soggy which made it a bit difficult to stomach after all those delightful dishes. Too full to take any photos of the desserts. Staff are helpful, welcoming and polite. Not impressed with the bathrooms.

We head to where the locals go, and here it is. Good quality, using fresh ingredients, the traditional Hong Kong dim sum served here is excellent and legit. Wide variety of classic dishes to choose from. No fusion or new world ideas, just tasty hot dim sum that warms the heart. Special shout out on the Fried egg pastry drizzled with honey, excellent dessert which we can’t get at home.
