About 念川居
念川居 is a Cantonese and dim sum restaurant in Mong Kok, Yau Tsim Mong, at 九龍旺角號舖MOKO新世紀廣場5樓501. Locals and visitors alike tend to check the same things before going, so this page brings together the practical details: where it is, how to get in touch, when it is open and how customers rate it. The address puts it on an upper floor of a building (an "upstairs shop", very common in Hong Kong), so note the floor and unit number; lifts can be slow at busy times, and some older buildings only have stairs.
Many Hong Kong restaurants add a 10% service charge to the bill, and tipping beyond that is optional. Popular places fill up at lunchtime and on weekend evenings, so book by phone, WhatsApp or a platform such as OpenRice; some set a time limit or a minimum spend. Most offer both dine-in and takeaway, and Octopus, credit cards, FPS and PayMe are widely accepted, though smaller places may take cash only.
Google lists the opening hours as daily, 10:00–22:00. It opens every day of the week. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. Phone: 2339 1900. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first. Its website is chuanpalace.oddle.me, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.
At 3.7 out of 5 on Google (125 reviews), it sits mid-table; the written reviews say more about service, prices and waiting times than the number does.
Mong Kok is part of the Yau Tsim Mong District in Kowloon. Around Kwun Tong and Kowloon Bay many industrial buildings now house offices, restaurants, gyms and studios, while Kai Tak is a newer district. Kowloon's streets are busiest in the evening and at weekends, shops keep long hours with many open until about 22:00, and the Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan and Tuen Ma lines plus buses and minibuses reach almost everywhere.

The staff service here was excellent, attentive and efficient throughout. Food quality was impressive as well, with dishes that felt fresh and well prepared. On the downside, I found the prices a bit steep for the overall experience, though given that it’s located inside a mall, that may be expected. This spot is a solid choice if you’re looking to enjoy dim sum or other dishes with either a small group or a larger family gathering. The environment is pleasantly soothing, with no sense of being rushed, making it easy to relax and enjoy your meal at a comfortable pace.

We order several dishes and it is not as good as expected. Veg — pretty salty Honey melons fire-rolls — very strange taste Pig legs — ok but need to highlight as all pieces is bone mainly Spicy dumpling (紅油抄手) — NOT spicy and it is sweet 😅😅 Order desert — it is the best in general ;) In fact, only 40% table have customer but staffs too busy to chat in their own and not even offer tea until we asked several times. Quality vs price — price too high based on this quality of food.

A native Sichuan friend told me this place serves some of the best authentic Sichuan food in hk, and it definitely did not disappoint! Tried out different dishes but the chili beef was my favorite: served in a large bowl full of chili and peppercorn, beef inside was tender and rich in the signature “spicy and numbing” flavor😍 noodles at the bottom soaked up the spicy soup, but I wish the chef was more generous with the amount!
